Korea on 1386 KHz AM

Good mediumwave conditions to the east this afternoon.
Logged this one at 1500 utc on 1386 KHz as a personal first.
On the clip MBC chimes, pip and MBC ID.

PMSDR/Winrad and E-MU 0202USB Audio Interface

With my old Audigy-2 soundcard only 96 Khz wide band recording was possible.
I used this Creative PCI card for more than a year to my fully satisfaction,
but to use the maximum span in WRplus or WinradHD a 196 Khz soundcard was needed.
My choice was a Creative E-MU 0202 usb soundcard.
This is a 24-bit/192 khz recording and playback audio interface
so wide band recording up to 192 khz is now possible.
I am very satisfied with this E-Mu soundcard which sounds great
especially with use of the E-MU Asio drivers.

Inputs for right and left mono 6.3 Jacks - do not use the stereo input.

Our PMSDR group member Michiel made me this audio cable:
1 pc 3.5 stereo Jack plug and 2 mono 6.3 Jack`s and 1 meter of good
quality audio cable (double audio cable which you can split).

TA-DX montage 6 and 7 December 2010

TA conditions were fair on mediumwave last monday- and tuesdaymorning.
It gave me a change to log another 4 personal firsts.
It isn't hi-fi quality but I don't care as long as I can
hear an ID on it.

Sporadic ES - R1 NOVA 25.11.2010

TV Band 1 was open this morning from 1045-1110utc.
Fun to see NOVA back on channel R1 - I didn't see
them often during the last spor. es season.
Their close down is planned in november 2011.

980 KHz RCN - Colombia

Not a lot to report from this morning TA listening session.
Only weak signals were heard from eastcoast CAN/USA.
After checking the PMSDR wide-band recordings I came across this one
which is another personal first

1280 KHz Noti Uno - Puerto Rico 23.11.2010

After a long period of bad MW conditions, so there was nothing to report,
but this morning the band was above average.
I have not yet listen to all my wide-band recordings
but got this one on 1280 KHz at 0800utc.
WCMN from Arecibo/Puerto Rico which is a personal first.
You hear Noti Uno just after 20 seconds.

920 KHz Radio Nueva Esparta - Porlamar

Nothing interesting on MW band as the band is extremely poor
for TA-DX the last weeks.
However I could log another personal first this
morning on 920 KHz at 0641utc with Radio Nueva Esparta
from Porlamar on the Isle of Margarita/Venezuela.

800 KHz Trans World Radio - Bonaire ATN

Another personal first this morning.
This was received on 800 KHz at 0614 utc.
At 15 seconds...... there is an ID as "Radio Trans Mundial"
which is TWR.

891 KHz Radio Thailand - Nong Khae

I logged this station on 20th. October 2010 at 1700 utc.
I first filed this one as a unid.
But today the guys of RealDX solved this unid
as Radio Thailand from Nong Khae with the
national anthem during their close down at 1700 utc.
Which is another personal first.
On the back/foreground you can hear my
local Radio 538 from HOL.

680 Khz CFTR from Toronto ON-Canada

During this mornings TA session I observed
that 680News was clearly readable.
Normally this channel is blocked by
the Dutch "Radio Maria" from Lopik
on 675 KHz with her 60 KW power but
was lucky enough not on air at this time of reception.

1413 KHz KBC-Fukuoka from Japan

Logged tonight my first Japan radiostation on mediumwave.
Catched at 1728 utc on 1413 KHz just before
TWR signed in with the gong.

870 KHz WWL - New Orleans LA on 17.10.2010

During this morning TA listening session I found a
rather good signal on 870 KHz from WWL New-Orleans LA
at 0620 utc.

Radio Puerto Cabello from Venezuela

This was received on 13 October at 0600 utc on 1290 KHz
with the PM-SDR receiver and the KAZ antenna.
At 20 seconds there is a clear ID:
"Radio Puerto Cabello........por la hora, la una y trenta
minutos................Mexico y sus estrellas..".

who is very well known with the spanish language and
identified this one for me.

Sporadic Es in Band 1 NOT over yet !

Despite that the end of the Sporadic Es season 2010 is approaching
there is still life in TV Band1.
This was seen Ukraine with 1+1/ Russia with 1TV and Rossija-1
and Belarus with BT-1.

Some Band 2 tropo logs with the new Sony XDR

This is a popular new tuner equiped with HD that is rating high with other DXers. I recently added one to the shack and have to say I'm very impressed with the selectivity right out of the box compared to my Kenwood KT 6040 with 80/110kHz IF filters.
I really enjoy the sound and weak signal performance of
the Sony much better than that of the Kenwood.

I logged this unid on channel R2 at 15.25 utc.
Presume a new logo of Moldova1.
Who knows more about it.

This is the first time ever I saw TG Parlamento,the weekly politics
show on Rai Uno.
All Rai Uno identification seems to be removed.

Analogue TV close-down in Croatia

I received an email from Zdenko/Croatia with more info about the
close-down of analogue television in Croatia:

Sporadic Es from Croatia on channel E4 - HRT-1 - 04.07.2010.

This is maybe one of the last sporadic es receptions from Croatia
on channel E4.
HRT will change from analogue into digital TV.

of Editrice 21 Network from Montacuto-Monte Giarolo/Italy
with only 200 Watt.

Notes and Band 2 logs

Not a lot to report Sporadic Es wise.
Of course I have had Sporadic Es last week on TV Band 1 but only the
regulars from Russia, Ukraine,Belarus, Estonia, Moldova,
Croatia, Macedonia,Hungary, Italy and Portugal but nothing exceptional.
Until today I have had no luck in receiving RUV from Island on E4,
but a DX fellow 25 miles south of me did receive RUV several times last week.
From the Middle East I have only seen video from Iran on E2
and Jordan on E3 and strong carriers from Syria on E2 and E4 but
no video so far.
Hopefully next month will bring some exceptional TV-DX from Africa,
Middle-East and some nice TA openings.

Mystery Rai Uno below E2

This morning at 08.05 utc I received Rai Uno/Italy just below E2 from a unknown location.

Well known TV-DX'er Paul Farley from the UK sent me the
following comment regarding this mystery.
